CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE NOW

The most authoritative publication for the children and youth sector.

A Brief History

In 1989 Young People Now was launched by the National Youth Agency (NYA). The title was acquired by Haymarket Business Media in 2001 and retained an affiliation with the NYA. Young People Now became the leading weekly title for youth workers and other professionals involved with young people in areas such as youth justice, crime, drugs and alcohol abuse, health, and employment. In 2004 Children Now was launched by Haymarket Business Media in response to The Children Act 2004, which provided the legal framework for Every Child Matters. Children Now quickly became established as the market leader. It promoted multi-agency working by providing children?s services professionals with the latest news and developments across education, social care, health, childcare and early years.

A title moving with the sector

There has been a significant increase in multi-agency working as an effective way of supporting children and young people to secure real improvements in their life outcomes. These are important changes happening in the public, private and voluntary sectors. As the sector has continued to evolve alongside policy to improve outcomes for children and young people, it is only natural that the publications serving the sector evolve with these changes. In September 2007, Children Now & Young People Now merged to become one fully comprehensive title for the sector and was renamed, Children & Young People Now. Children & Young People Now combines all the essential elements of the two magazines to deliver a more in-depth, compelling, and must-read title for the sector.
